Debbie Fritter
Debbie Fritter lives in Wisconsin with her husband, Randy. They have four adult children, one grandchild and two horses (an Arabian mare and an APHA gelding). Both Debbie and her husband grew up in this area and went to high school together, having met in 1972 just one year before graduation. However, they had followed different life paths and it took almost 30 years before fate put them back together on a permanent basis just a few years ago.
Debbie comes from a family of artists ... an aunt who did oil painting, a brother who is a cartoonist, a who both strives to be on the silver screen, even her grand-daughter is showing the signs ... so painting a picture of some kind is in her blood. Debbie’s step-daughters and step-son are just as creative but in other ways.
Debbie first began writing in the early 1970s while in high school. She took every creative writing course that was offered (grammar was not my best course) at the time and focused her energy for many, many years after that time on poetry. It wasn't until a dear friend's sister revealed that she was going to become a published romance author that was all she needed to get the ball rolling. Debbie finished her first manuscript in a month's time. joined Romance Writers of America and the state chapter, Wisconsin Romance Writers of America. She thought she was going to set the romance world on fire and everyone would think she was great ... surprise! The Madison Area of WisRWA had some of the toughest critiquers she’d ever seen ... and all unpublished (at least at the time). Debbie hung in there, took my licks and tried to perfect a manuscript that still collects dust.
Debbie tends to write slow, taking her time and making sure the facts are right. Debbie started her second manuscript, worked a full-time job, a part-time job and was a single mom. Deciding that something had to go, she dropped the part-time job and quit writing for a little over a year. Her writing friends didn't let her forget about them though and finally convinced Debbie to come back to the fold. She did and finally finished what would be my first published novel ... The Perfect Match.
Today Debbie is enjoying life with her loving husband, works full-time, writes every other day for at least two hours, and tries to keep in touch with all her family members. To date she has three releases coming in 2005: The Perfect Match (April), a contemporary romance; A Legacy Through Time (August), a Civil War time-travel; and Emerald (September), a contemporary romance in Tales from the Treasure Trove. Currently, Debbie’s working on two time-travel/paranormal romances.
If there's one thing Debbie’s learned over the years of her life, it's that you can never stop dreaming and reaching for the stars, because sooner or later you just may get to touch one and it'll bring you more happiness than you can ever imagine. She feels lucky, and blessed over the past couple of years to have been able to reach out and touch two stars ... and she’s still reaching for more.
